Who We Are

Dr Paul Anderson
The Ashford Surgical Obesity Centre is one of oldest and most experienced bariatric clinics in Australia. It has three surgeons and two GP's, who are a part of the obesity clinic. Most of our patients will meet all both of our GPs,who are among the most experienced bariatric GPs in adelaide.Once they have had there work up and decided to proceed they will then meet their surgeon .
The principal surgeon is Dr Paul Anderson, who has been doing this surgery for approximately 14 years and has performed over 3,000 bariatric procedures. Mr Luis Isabel is the second surgeon and has a long history of bariatric surgery and upper gastro-intestinal surgery with Dr Michael France now also doing Lap Bands .
The two GP's, are Dr Steve Sabine and Dr Mark Yaeger. Both of these doctors have quite extensive experience now with bariatric patients and subscribe to the philosophy that patients with a weight related problem usually have numerous reasons for their weight gain, which shouldn't be prejudged to be just lack of discipline. We believe the reasons for weight gain are complex and are often an interplay of genes and environment. Each patient will be considered individually and any correctable problems identified and dealt with prior to surgery. While patients primarily come to us for a surgical solution to their weight problem,we believe that the holistic approach is important
The other staff are Deidre Tappscott and Adeline Summers. Deidre is the Practice Manager and Adeline is frequently at the front desk and assists Deidre. Terry Wainwright is a recent addition as is Di Steel both of whom have been gradually incorporated into the whole process of patient management.
Dr Anderson is also co-founder and director of Specialists Without Borders, an organisation which primarily meets the medical educational needs of developing countries. It utlises medical and surgical specialists from around the world and matches them to areas of need in developing countries where it runs teaching seminars and workshops..
