Adelaide's Lap-Band Support Group
As part of the work up procedure, Dr Anderson encourages the patient to attend the Lap-Band® Support Group which is specific to Anderson Medical. This is a concept which was developed in the United States. The group meets once a month, and a 12 month agenda is available for the year. Topics will range from exercise in the overweight, to the psychological aspects of eating, discussions of the procedure and follow-up plastic surgical procedures. There will usually be a Guest Speaker/Expert at each meeting.
The other great value of these meetings usually attended by 30 to 50 patients is to offer the opportunity to understand the commitment to the procedure, the small difficulties that people may encounter, and the adjustment problem following the operation. As it is run independently of Dr Anderson, it provides a valuable source of unbiased information.
The Lap-Band® Support Group exists to promote education, information and support for all people who have had or are considering Laparoscopic Gastric Banding surgery. We also welcome your partner or friend to come along to these meeting.
